1769: Priest arrested for saying Mass less than a mile from the present site of St. George's Cathedral.

1778: Catholic Relief Act passed.

1780: The Gordon Riots.

1829: Catholic Emancipation Act passed.

1829: Father Thomas Doyle comes to St. George's Chapel, London Road.

1848: St. George's Church opened by Bishop (later Cardinal) Wiseman.

1850: Restoration of the English Hierarchy. St. George's becomes the first Roman Catholic Cathedral since the Reformation.

1879: Provost Thomas Doyle dies after 50 years at St. George's.

1894: Consecration of the Cathedral.

1941: Cathedral destroyed by enemy action.

1949: Fr. Bernard Bogan comes to St. George's as Administrator.

1958: Restored Cathedral solemnly reopened by Bishop (later Archbishop) Cowderoy.

1982: Visit of Pope John Paul II to Cathedral.

1994: Centenary of Dedication of Cathedral.

1998: Visit of the Dalai Lama.

2000: 150th Anniversary of the Restoration of the English Hierarchy.
